Background
The LIFE REWAINCER project was conceived following the promising results achieved in the REWAINCER project (funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency-AVI, 2019-2022).
The LIFE REWAINCER project aims to implement the proposed solution, based on the regeneration of urban wastewater through membrane technologies, and its supply to the ceramics industry for use in the manufacturing of ceramic clay.

Objectives
LIFE REWAINCER is a demonstration project whose main objective is to reduce the extraction of fresh water from the aquifers in Castellón, thereby reducing their water stress, through the use of urban wastewater reclaimed by membrane technologies. The use of a demonstration plant on an industrial scale will make it possible to obtain reclaimed water from treated urban wastewater from the WWTP in Cabanes.
The quality of this water will be suitable for supplying the water demand of an atomized powder production plant. The NWTP demonstration plant will consist of a water reclamation plant, a distribution network and a performance monitoring network covering the reclamation plant, the production of SAMCA and the impact on the aquifer.

Partners
FACSA, a company in the water sector, is the project coordinator and has extensive experience in the construction and management of water treatment plants.
SAMCA (EUROARCE) is a multinational ceramics company specialized in the processing of raw materials and the manufacturing of atomized clays for ceramic floor and wall tiles.
ITC-AICE is a technology center providing know-how in innovative water treatment technologies, ceramic processes and environmental analysis techniques.
Coordinator of the proposal and supervisor of the implementation and operation of the membrane plant for water regeneration.
Partner in charge of the demonstration of the use of reclaimed water in the atomizer for the manufacturing of ceramic clays.
Partner in charge of monitoring and studying the impact of the solution on the aquifer.

Consulting Group
The project has the support of several regional public sector entities and associations of the ceramic industry and the water sector.
These entities will serve as a consultative body for the project partners in the event of any relevant aspect arising during the execution of the project.
